The 5th Annual Meet Your Commissioner and Leaders of the Future Conference took place on Thursday, June 26, at the Clark County Government Center. From 8 a.m. to 6 p.m., teens from across Clark County gathered for a full day of civic learning, leadership development, and networking.
Right from the start, the atmosphere was full of ambition and optimism. Youth arrived dressed for success, eager to engage and grow. Events like this reaffirm confidence in the next generation of leaders.

Inspiring Keynote Speakers Set the Tone
The day opened with a powerful speech by Tameka Henry, School Board Trustee for District C. Her address was inspiring and engaging, encouraging youth to lead with courage and purpose. Her energy and authenticity resonated throughout the room.
Later in the program, attendees heard from Chase Corbin, founder of PhillyFreezeMe Vegas, who delivered the second keynote address. His entrepreneurial journey and commitment to community uplift served as a motivating example of what young leaders can achieve with vision and determination.

Workshops with Real-World Impact
Throughout the day, teens rotated through three impactful workshop blocks:
- Block 1: Education and Career Development – Focused on academic pathways, resume building, and job preparation.
- Block 2: Leadership Development – Emphasized communication, teamwork, and decision-making skills.
- Block 3: Community Engagement and Connectivity – Explored civic participation, community service, and social connection.
Each workshop was hands-on and interactive, giving teens the chance to practice real skills, ask questions, and connect directly with professionals.

Lunch, Activities, and Leadership in Action
To keep the energy high, lunch was provided, giving students time to recharge and network. A scavenger hunt also added fun and engagement to the day, encouraging teamwork and friendly competition while exploring the Government Center.
From 9 a.m. to 11 a.m., participants had the opportunity to meet their County Commissioners. This gave them direct access to decision-makers and insight into how local government works.
