Antwerp Steps Forward as a Blue Economy Leader
Antwerp is taking a strong step forward in the Antwerp Blue Economy Innovation space. The city now uses its port, research centers, and industry partners to turn new ideas into real solutions. From the River Scheldt to the Port of Antwerp-Bruges, Antwerp acts as a living lab where innovation is tested in real conditions.
The Antwerp Convention Bureau is helping drive this work. The city now offers a clear pipeline that takes new concepts from research labs to full industry rollout. Delegates can see this journey in one place, across one city, with one community of experts.

A Full Innovation Pipeline Across Antwerp
Four major hubs shape the Antwerp Blue Economy Innovation pathway. Each hub shows a different stage of moving ideas into action.
BlueApp
BlueApp gives teams access to modern labs and pilot halls. Researchers and companies work together in water reuse, CO₂ work, hydrogen, and new materials. Organisers can add tours or hands-on demos to show this innovation in action.
BlueChem
BlueChem supports startups with lab space, business help, and access to industry leaders. It offers direct links to new talent across circular chemistry and water technologies. This gives planners early access to voices shaping the Antwerp Blue Economy Innovation field.
NextGen Demo
NextGen Demo turns the port into a real-world test area. Pilot plants use real industry conditions to test hydrogen, electrolysis, and bio-based chemistry. Delegates can see technology being proven and scaled.
NextGen District
NextGen District offers space for first-of-a-kind industrial projects. It brings together companies working in circular manufacturing and sustainable chemistry. The district also includes event spaces that help groups connect inside the Antwerp Blue Economy Innovation ecosystem.
A City Built for Real Connections
“Antwerp doesn’t just host conferences. We build communities,” said Tadeja Pivc Coudyser, CEO of Antwerp Convention Bureau. “When organisers choose Antwerp, their delegates connect with the partners and sectors that drive the Antwerp Blue Economy Innovation story.”
Organisers can combine sessions with lab visits, port tours, and site experiences. Delegates can see hydrogen tugboats, circular plants, and real port operations. This mix of learning and hands-on discovery is why events like the Annual Summit 2025: Uncharted Waters choose Antwerp.
Real Learning With Real Impact
“Delegates want relevance,” added Pivc Coudyser. “Here, they learn from experts and then see the work in action the same day. That creates real value for the Antwerp Blue Economy Innovation community.”
Open Invitation to the Blue Economy Sector
The Antwerp Convention Bureau supports events from start to finish. The team helps with venue matching, program design, technical tours, and legacy planning. Antwerp invites blue economy leaders to co-create events that turn ideas into impact across the Antwerp Blue Economy Innovation network.
