C.O.O.L. Summer Program: Empowering Teens in Clark County

C.O.O.L. Summer Program

Clark County Commissioners Justin Jones and Tick Segerblom have teamed up with the Vegas Force Foundation and community partners to launch the C.O.O.L. Summer Program at Clark High School from June 23 to July 18, 2025. The C.O.O.L. Summer Program serves 150 students ages 12–18 and delivers wraparound services spanning education, recreation, and mentorship. This initiative is free for participants, making it accessible to more teens.

The call to fill the summer gap

Many families in apartment-dense neighborhoods face limited access to quality summer programs that keep teens safe, engaged, and supported. Therefore, the C.O.O.L. Summer Program offers sports, team-building challenges, leadership games, and creative arts classes each weekday from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. Additionally, students participating in the C.O.O.L. Summer Program experience life-skills workshops and career exploration sessions, designed to spark ambition and build confidence, enhancing the C.O.O.L. Summer Program’s impact.

A program that supports entire families

Moreover, the C.O.O.L. Summer Program provides youth programming for siblings aged 6–11 on site. After-care services run at the Lied Memorial Boys & Girls Club with transportation provided. As a result, parents can work knowing their children remain safe and engaged throughout the day. Each Friday except July 4, participants attend a community resource fair featuring local services, giveaways, and support networks that strengthen family stability. The C.O.O.L. Summer Program contributes to community strengthening by connecting families with necessary resources.

Building opportunity and stability

Commissioner Justin Jones explained that launching the C.O.O.L. Summer Program responds directly to a critical need for enriching summer options in underserved areas. Commissioner Tick Segerblom added that mentorship and wraparound services deliver more than activities—they foster genuine growth and hope. Consequently, the C.O.O.L. Summer Program brings stability when school is out and empowers teens to pursue their goals with purpose. The ongoing benefits of the C.O.O.L. Summer Program are substantial for participants.

How to join and what to expect

Registration for the C.O.O.L. Summer Program is free through the C.O.O.L. Program Registration link on the Clark County website. Daily schedules flow from morning icebreakers to afternoon arts projects, mentorship circles, and special guest sessions featuring local experts. Real-world insights boost both academic and personal development.
