Celebrating Educational Opportunities: Las Vegas Scholarship Ceremony

JUST NOW NEWS attends ceremony celebrating education, opportunity and community investment

LAS VEGAS — Hope filled the room Wednesday afternoon at Credit One Bank’s Las Vegas headquarters as 30 graduating high school seniors gathered with family members, educators, and community leaders for a milestone moment that could help shape the rest of their lives. The event celebrated the awarding of the Credit One Scholarship to these deserving students.

JUST NOW NEWS attended the ceremony as Credit One Bank expanded its One For The Community Scholarship Program to its largest class yet, awarding scholarships to 30 students from across Southern Nevada.

The event was more than a scholarship presentation.

It was a celebration of hard work, perseverance, and the belief that education can change lives.

As students took their seats inside Credit One Bank’s corporate headquarters, many smiled with excitement while parents proudly captured photos of the special occasion.

For these students, years of dedication had led to this moment.

Scholarship program reaches new milestone

Now in its third year, the One For The Community Scholarship Program continues growing.

This year, Credit One Bank committed a record $300,000 in scholarship funding through partnerships with the Public Education Foundation and Project 150

Each student will receive $2,500 during their first year of college.

The scholarship can then be renewed for up to three additional years.

As a result, each recipient may receive up to $10,000 in educational support.

The program launched in 2023 with just 11 students.

Since then, it has expanded every year.

The addition of this year’s recipients, the initiative will have supported 77 students and committed a total of $750,000 toward higher education.

Students represent the future of Southern Nevada

The scholarship recipients came from different schools, backgrounds, and life experiences.

However, they shared one thing in common.

Each student demonstrated determination and a commitment to continuing their education.

Several recipients will attend colleges and universities throughout Nevada.

Others plan to pursue careers in business, healthcare, education, technology, and public service.

Community leaders said supporting these students represents an investment in Southern Nevada’s future workforce.

The room reflected the diversity and promise of the region itself.

Families applauded loudly as students walked forward to accept their awards.

For many parents, it was a proud and emotional moment.

Returning scholar shares inspiring message

One of the most memorable moments came when returning scholarship recipient Valerie Victor addressed the audience.

Victor spoke about how the scholarship helped support her educational journey.

She encouraged the new recipients to embrace every opportunity that comes with higher education.

Her message resonated throughout the room.

Students listened closely as she described the challenges and rewards of pursuing a college education.

She reminded them that the scholarship represented more than financial assistance.

It represented a community that believes in their success.

Her remarks drew enthusiastic applause from students, families, and community leaders.

Community partnerships create opportunity

The program continues to grow because of strong partnerships between Credit One Bank, the Public Education Foundation and Project 150.

Project 150 joined the initiative for the first time this year.

The organization supports homeless, displaced, and disadvantaged high school students throughout Southern Nevada

Leaders from all three organizations attended the ceremony.

They emphasized the importance of working together to expand educational opportunities.

Their shared goal remains simple.

Remove barriers that prevent students from reaching their full potential.

By combining resources and expertise, the partners have created a program that continues making a meaningful difference.

Commitment to community on full display

What stood out most during the ceremony was the genuine commitment to the local community.

The event felt personal.

Students were not treated as numbers or statistics.

They were recognized as future leaders.

Throughout the afternoon, Credit One Bank representatives took time to speak with students and families.

Many conversations focused on goals, aspirations, and future plans.

The atmosphere reflected a culture of encouragement and support.

In a city known for entertainment and tourism, the event served as a reminder that education remains one of the most powerful investments a community can make.

Looking toward brighter futures

As the ceremony concluded, students gathered for photos with family members, scholarship partners, and fellow recipients.

Many celebrated a milestone that will help open doors to future opportunities.

The scholarships will help cover tuition, books, housing, and other educational expenses.

More importantly, they provide students with confidence as they begin the next chapter of their lives.

For Credit One Bank, the Public Education Foundation, and Project 150, the event demonstrated what can happen when organizations invest in young people.

For the students, it marked the beginning of a new journey.

And for Southern Nevada, it represented another step toward building a stronger future through education.
