Local filmmakers take center stage at the Winchester Dondero Cultural Center
Clark County’s Public Arts Office has teamed up with Film Nevada to present a Short Film Showcase on October 23, from 4:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. at the Winchester Dondero Cultural Center, 3130 McLeod Drive. The free public event marks the first partnership between the two organizations. It offers filmmakers, artists, and movie lovers a chance to meet, network, and celebrate local storytelling.

A Celebration of Local Talent
The showcase will feature back-to-back screenings of short films by Southern Nevada filmmakers. Guests can also enjoy a short intermission halfway through the evening. The event was created as a non-competitive platform where filmmakers can share their work and connect with others in the creative community.
Clark County Commissioner Tick Segerblom shared his excitement. “I couldn’t be more thrilled to partner with Film Nevada for this showcase,” he said. “This isn’t just about watching great films. It’s about giving our local filmmakers a chance to connect and shine. Supporting the arts is vital for both our culture and economy.”
Showcasing Creativity and Connection
Danette Tull, Deputy Director of Film Nevada, also spoke about the partnership. “We are proud to work with Clark County and the Winchester Dondero Cultural Center to highlight the amazing talent of our independent filmmakers,” she said. “This event lets artists see their work on the big screen without the financial burden of renting a venue. It’s a true celebration of creativity and community.”
Spotlight on Nevada Filmmakers
The evening will include short films by Hisonni Mustafa, winner of the 2025 Best Nevada Documentary Award for Legend Has It: The Remarkable Rise of Stephen McCain. Other featured filmmakers include Shahab Zargari, Jakim Jarel, Joanieve Cooper, Rubi Rodriguez, Aari Kabari, and Evelyn Choi.
In addition, the showcase will feature Arecibo Films and filmmaker Zachary Fried. It will also debut the first short film production by the Clark County Public Arts Office.
