Clark County Offers Up to $975 in Smog Repair Assistance for Eligible Drivers

LAS VEGAS — Southern Nevada drivers whose vehicles have failed an emissions test may be eligible for financial assistance to get back on the road. Smog Free Clark County is inviting residents to attend a free community event on Thursday, July 30, where eligible drivers can learn how to receive a repair voucher worth up to $975.

The event will take place from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. at the Windmill Library in southwest Las Vegas. Representatives from Smog Free Clark County and Clark County’s Division of Air Quality will be available to explain the program, answer questions and help determine whether drivers qualify for repair assistance.

Helping drivers meet emissions standards

Repairing an older vehicle after a failed emissions test can be costly. The Smog Free Clark County program was created to help eligible residents reduce those expenses while improving air quality throughout the Las Vegas Valley.

Drivers with vehicles manufactured between 1968 and 2010 that recently failed an emissions inspection are encouraged to attend the event. The repair voucher can help cover the cost of necessary repairs so vehicles can pass a future smog inspection and remain legally registered.

The program is underwritten by Clark County’s Division of Air Quality, part of the Department of Environment & Sustainability, which works to improve regional air quality through education and community outreach.

What to bring

To help determine eligibility, attendees should bring the following documents:

  • A valid driver’s license.
  • A failed emissions test or Vehicle Inspection Report (VIR).
  • Current vehicle registration or vehicle title.

Spanish-speaking representatives will also be available during the event to assist members of the community and answer questions about the program.

Free event open to the public

The workshop is free and open to Southern Nevada residents who believe they may qualify for the repair assistance program. Organizers encourage anyone driving an older vehicle that recently failed an emissions test to attend and learn about available resources before paying for repairs out of pocket.
