A New Barbecue Restaurant Raises the Bar in Southern Nevada
Henderson, Nevada now has a new barbecue destination, and it delivers real smoke and real flavor. SMKD BBQ has officially opened, bringing a chef-driven barbecue concept to the local dining scene. From the start, the restaurant focuses on craft, care, and hospitality. As a result, guests enjoy barbecue that feels honest and satisfying. At the same time, the experience remains relaxed and welcoming.

No Shortcuts and No Gimmicks
SMKD BBQ stands for Smoked Meats and Killer Drinks, and the team lives by that promise. The kitchen smokes meats low and slow using proven methods. Because of that, flavors come through deep and rich. The team avoids shortcuts and skips gimmicks. Instead, they focus on doing barbecue the right way. Therefore, every plate reflects patience and purpose.
Chef Alex Reznik Brings Experience and Vision
Chef Alex Reznik leads the menu and the vision behind the concept. He brings more than twenty years of experience as a chef, television personality, and hospitality executive. Previously, Reznik gained national attention on Top Chef and Beat Bobby Flay. During that time, he showed confidence, creativity, and bold flavor. As a New York native, he built his career in Las Vegas, Los Angeles, Beverly Hills, New York, and Boca Raton. In recent years, he returned to Las Vegas with his family and focused on chef-driven concepts built for community.

Barbecue Classics with a Creative Edge
The menu delivers barbecue classics while adding creative twists. Guests can order brisket, ribs, pulled pork, pastrami, chicken, sausage, and burnt ends, all smoked with care. In addition, the menu offers shareables designed for the table. Pig Candy brings sweet, spicy, sticky bacon flavor. Burnt ends deliver caramelized brisket with deep smoke. Smoked wings arrive sauced or naked, so guests can choose bold flavor or pure smoke. As a result, the menu stays fun without losing tradition.

Made for Sharing and Groups
The menu works best when guests order for the table. For example, combo plates let diners mix meats and sides with ease. Smaller options suit solo visits, while larger spreads work well for families and groups. Meanwhile, full feasts deliver multiple meats, sides, and drinks. Because of this setup, meals feel social and relaxed.
Sides That Deserve Attention
Sides matter just as much as the meats. Crispy cabbage slaw adds crunch and balance. Not boxed mac and cheese delivers comfort. Beans bring smoky sweetness. Sweet potato hush puppies add a golden bite. Also, seasoned fries pair well with ranch, spices, or barbecue flavor. Meanwhile, salads like kale Caesar, chopped greens, and a classic wedge add freshness.

Sandwiches and Comfort Favorites
The sandwich lineup has plenty of variety, but the pastrami on rye is the one that defines the menu. Thick-cut and generously stacked, the meat is rich, smoky, and tender, anchored by classic accompaniments that know their role: crunchy slaw for texture, sharp mustard for bite, and pickles that cut cleanly through the fat. It’s a sandwich built on balance and restraint, confident enough to let the pastrami do the talking.
The rest of the offerings orbit that standard. A straightforward smash burger keeps things deliberately simple with melted cheddar, onions, and ketchup. The French dip leans indulgent, layering shaved brisket onto soft bread with a side of deeply savory jus for dunking. The Cubano brings contrast, combining pulled pork, ham, Swiss, and chimichurri for a bright, herby edge. And for those willing to embrace the mess, the rib sandwich arrives fully committed—saucy, sticky, and unapologetically hands-on.

Desserts That Finish Strong
Dessert plays a defining role in rounding out the meal, leaning heavily into comfort and nostalgia. The fried apple pie arrives hot and crisp, its flaky exterior giving way to a soft, spiced apple filling that hits with just the right balance of sweetness and warmth. It’s the kind of dessert that feels familiar from the first bite, but carefully executed so it never feels ordinary.
Alongside it, the house-made candy bars push indulgence further, layering chocolate, caramel, and texture for a rich, satisfying finish. Dense and decadent, they channel the flavors of classic candy-shop favorites while feeling thoughtfully crafted rather than mass-produced. Together, these desserts provide a sense of closure to the meal—sweet, comforting, and intentionally indulgent—making a strong case for pacing yourself and always saving room at the end.

Hospitality at the Core
Beyond the food, hospitality truly defines the experience. From the moment guests walk in, the space sets a relaxed, unpretentious tone—comfortable without feeling staged, lively without being overwhelming. It invites people to linger, whether they’re stopping in for a quick bite or settling in for a longer meal.
That sense of ease is sustained by a team that treats hospitality as more than a checklist. Service feels attentive but never forced, guided by consistency, care, and an easy warmth that comes across as genuine rather than rehearsed. Staff members know the menu, read the room well, and engage with guests in a way that feels personal without being intrusive.
Over time, those small, thoughtful interactions add up. First-time visitors are welcomed with the same attention as longtime regulars, and that balance fosters trust and familiarity. It’s the kind of place where return visits feel natural, not habitual—built on comfort, reliability, and the simple pleasure of being well taken care of.
