Monthly tasting series returns with regional focus
Ferraro’s Ristorante will host its next Taste & Learn wine event on Saturday, Feb. 7 at 5 p.m. The restaurant continues its monthly series with a focus on Sardinian wines from Argiolas.
The Taste & Learn program emphasizes wine education first. Guests sample guided pours while learning about grape varieties, terroir and production methods. At the same time, the kitchen prepares Italian small plates designed to support each wine. As a result, the experience balances learning and dining rather than functioning as a traditional tasting menu.

Argiolas helped elevate Sardinian wine worldwide
Argiolas began winemaking in 1938 when Antonio Argiolas founded the winery in Sardinia. From the start, the family focused on quality and native grapes. Over time, that approach helped introduce Sardinian wines to international markets.
Today, second- and third-generation family members operate the winery. They continue to prioritize Cannonau, Monica and Vermentino. These grapes thrive in Sardinia’s Mediterranean climate and rugged terrain. Consequently, the wines show strong regional character and consistent structure.
Moreover, Argiolas maintains vineyard practices that emphasize sustainability and careful site selection. This attention to detail allows the winery to preserve tradition while embracing modern techniques.
Wines selected for the Feb. 7 event
The tasting will open with Costamolino Vermentino di Sardegna DOC. This white wine delivers crisp acidity and aromas of citrus, stone fruit and Mediterranean herbs. Next, guests will sample Perdera Monica di Sardegna DOC, a medium-bodied red with bright red fruit flavors and subtle spice.
Afterward, the experience moves to Costera Cannonau di Sardegna DOC. This wine offers darker fruit notes, gentle warmth and hints of black pepper. Finally, the tasting concludes with Turriga IGT Rosso Isola dei Nuraghi, Argiolas’ flagship blend. The wine shows depth, concentration and aging potential.
Each pour follows a deliberate progression. As a result, guests can clearly experience differences in structure, weight and complexity.

Food pairings emphasize balance and texture
Executive chef Mimmo Ferraro designed the menu to complement the wines rather than compete with them. Instead of replicating Sardinian dishes, the kitchen focused on Italian flavors that highlight balance and texture.
Accordingly, lighter preparations accompany the Vermentino, while richer dishes support the Cannonau and Turriga. This approach allows both food and wine to remain distinct while working together.
