LAS VEGAS — Ferraro’s Ristorante will transport guests to the heart of Tuscany during its next Taste & Learn event on Saturday, July 18, at 5 p.m. The popular monthly wine-tasting series combines wine education with expertly crafted Italian cuisine, creating an immersive culinary experience for wine lovers and food enthusiasts alike.
This month’s event will spotlight wines from Avignonesi, one of Italy’s most respected wineries and a leading producer of Vino Nobile di Montepulciano. Guests will sample four distinctive wines while enjoying carefully selected food pairings created by Executive Chef Mimmo Ferraro.
Taste & Learn has become a favorite among Las Vegas diners because it offers more than a traditional wine tasting. Instead, attendees gain insight into wine regions, grape varieties and production methods while savoring authentic Italian dishes.
Avignonesi brings the flavors of Tuscany to Las Vegas
Located in the rolling hills of Tuscany’s Montepulciano region, Avignonesi has built a global reputation for producing elegant wines that reflect the character of the land.
The winery embraces organic farming practices and sustainable viticulture. As a result, each bottle showcases the unique qualities of the estate’s vineyards and the celebrated Sangiovese grape.
Avignonesi remains committed to preserving centuries-old Tuscan winemaking traditions while embracing modern techniques that enhance quality and sustainability.
Today, wine enthusiasts around the world recognize the winery for producing expressive wines that capture the essence of Tuscany.
Four wines paired with four authentic Italian dishes
The evening begins with Da-Di Bianco, a refreshing white blend featuring Trebbiano, Grechetto, Petit Manseng and Vermentino grapes.
Bright citrus, white peach and tropical fruit flavors make this wine a natural companion to Gambero Ripieno di Granchio, a crab-stuffed prawn dish served with citrus sauce.
Next, guests will enjoy Avignonesi’s Vino Nobile di Montepulciano alongside pan-fried gnocchi prepared with brown butter, sage, Chanterelle mushrooms and charred green onions.
The tasting continues with Grifi, a blend of Cabernet Sauvignon and Sangiovese known for flavors of black currant, dark berries and spice. Chef Ferraro pairs the wine with Polenta con Bolognese, featuring traditional Tuscan ragù and Parmigiano cream.
Finally, attendees will sample Desiderio, Avignonesi’s acclaimed Merlot. Rich blackberry, black cherry and cocoa notes complement Filetto di Manzo, a beef tenderloin dish served with black truffle red wine reduction, roasted carrots and duchess potatoes.
Chef Mimmo Ferraro highlights shared commitment to tradition
Chef Mimmo Ferraro believes the winery’s philosophy aligns naturally with the restaurant’s culinary approach.
“Avignonesi has built an international reputation by remaining true to its roots,” Ferraro said. “That dedication to tradition and quality aligns with our approach in the kitchen, making this an especially appealing Taste & Learn experience.”
Moreover, the event allows guests to discover how thoughtfully selected food pairings can elevate both the wine and the cuisine.
Consequently, participants leave with a deeper appreciation for Italian culinary traditions and regional wines.
