Formula 1 commits to long-term future in Southern Nevada as Las Vegas strengthens its position on the global sports stage
LAS VEGAS — Formula 1 will remain in Las Vegas through at least 2037 after officials announced a new 10-year extension for the Las Vegas Grand Prix, ensuring one of the sport’s most spectacular events stays on the racing calendar for years to come. The agreement marks a major victory for both Formula 1 and Southern Nevada.
The extension guarantees that fans will continue to see the world’s fastest drivers race beneath the neon lights of the Las Vegas Strip on a unique 3.8-mile street circuit. The track winds through sections of Las Vegas Boulevard, Koval Lane, Harmon Avenue and Sands Avenue, creating one of the most recognizable layouts in international motorsports.
Since its debut in 2023, the Las Vegas Grand Prix has become one of Formula 1’s signature events. Unlike traditional daytime races, the Las Vegas event takes place under the lights on a Saturday night, providing a dramatic backdrop that showcases the city to millions of viewers worldwide.
Economic impact continues to grow
The Las Vegas Grand Prix has delivered more than thrilling racing.
According to Formula 1, the event has generated approximately $3.2 billion in cumulative economic impact for Southern Nevada since its launch. Furthermore, the race produced $43 million in state and local tax revenue during the most recent event while also contributing more than $2 million to nonprofit organizations.
Those numbers helped convince local leaders that the Grand Prix remains a valuable asset for the region.
As a result, Clark County officials, Formula 1 executives and the Las Vegas Convention and Visitors Authority worked together to secure the long-term agreement.
Formula 1 doubles down on Las Vegas
Formula 1 President and CEO Stefano Domenicali praised the partnership and highlighted Las Vegas’ growing importance to the sport’s American expansion strategy. He noted that the event has quickly established itself as a destination for racing, entertainment, business leaders and international visitors.
Meanwhile, Las Vegas Grand Prix President and CEO Emily Prazer called the extension a defining moment for the race and a reflection of the strong partnerships that support the event.
The agreement also reinforces Formula 1’s commitment to the United States. Las Vegas joins Miami and Austin as key American stops on the Formula 1 calendar.
A bright future for racing on the Strip
Looking ahead, Las Vegas officials expect the Grand Prix to continue attracting visitors from around the world. Moreover, the event strengthens the city’s reputation as a premier destination for sports, entertainment and major international events.
For Formula 1 fans, the extension means one thing: the roar of racing engines will continue echoing along the Las Vegas Strip for at least another decade.
