New luxury resort transforms South Bay coastline
The grand opening of the Gaylord Pacific Resort in Chula Vista has officially launched a new era for the San Diego tourism scene. The resort’s opening marked a significant milestone and fueled interest throughout the region.
This project is one of the largest hospitality investments in California in years. Designed to attract both families and major conventions, the opening day was packed with excitement, anticipation, and optimism surrounding the Gaylord Pacific Resort Chula Vista opening.

Massive resort brings jobs and opportunity
Spanning 36 acres along the Chula Vista Bayfront, the Gaylord Pacific Resort offers 1,600 guest rooms and 89 luxury suites. The views stretch across the Pacific Ocean and Chula Vista Marina, giving guests a true taste of the California coast.
Even more impressive is the event space. Its 477,000 square feet of meeting and convention areas, including a massive 140,000-square-foot ballroom, it now stands as San Diego County’s largest hotel convention center, thanks to the resort’s successful opening.
This resort has already created more than 4,000 jobs. That includes construction, service staff, hotel management, and retail partnerships. Local businesses are also tapping into new customer traffic generated by the resort’s launch.

Entertainment and dining raise the bar
Guests can splash and unwind at a 4.25-acre water park featuring a lazy river, waterslides, a wave pool, and a surf simulator. Kids and adults alike have plenty to explore, making the resort opening memorable for everyone.
The resort includes 12 restaurants and bars. Dining options range from upscale steakhouses to casual cafés. There’s something for every palate and every occasion, which was highlighted during the Gaylord Pacific Resort Chula Vista opening.
A full-service spa and modern fitness center complete the luxury experience. Whether you’re visiting for business or leisure, the experience is top-tier from start to finish.
A vision two decades in the making
This opening marks a major milestone in the Chula Vista Bayfront Master Plan. Local leaders and developers spent more than 20 years building toward this moment. Their goal was simple: create a vibrant waterfront district that serves both residents and tourists.
That vision has now become a reality with the Gaylord Pacific Resort Chula Vista opening.
The new Gaylord property is more than just a hotel — it’s a centerpiece of a revitalized community. As new shops, homes, parks, and open spaces emerge nearby, the area will continue to evolve into a full destination Just Now News.
