United Way of Southern Nevada will host its annual Golf United Tournament on May 18 at Red Rock Country Club, bringing together business leaders, players, and community supporters for a fundraising event focused on local programs.
The tournament, presented by Del Taco, will feature an 18-hole round of golf along with opportunities for networking and community engagement. Organizers said the event supports programs that address education, financial stability, and health services in Southern Nevada.
Annual Event Returns to Red Rock
The Golf United Tournament has become a recurring event for the organization. Each year, it draws participants from across the region.
Players will check in at 6:30 a.m. and begin play at 8 a.m. The course sits near Red Rock Canyon, providing a scenic setting for the event.
Because of its location and structure, the tournament combines recreation with fundraising. It also allows participants to connect with other community members.
Community Leaders and Guests to Participate
This year’s event will include appearances from former professional athlete Mark McMillian and golf instructor Tilly Gretsch.
McMillian played in the National Football League with the Philadelphia Eagles and Kansas City Chiefs. During the event, participants will have the chance to play alongside him.
In addition, Gretsch will provide instruction on the course. She is the founder of Gretsch Golf Academy and works as a PGA teaching professional.
Because of these guest appearances, the event offers both competitive play and instructional opportunities.
Fundraising Supports Local Programs
Proceeds from the tournament will go toward programs managed by United Way of Southern Nevada. These programs focus on helping individuals and families in the region.
The organization works to support youth success, financial stability, and access to health care. It also provides resources for households facing economic challenges.
“At its heart, Golf United is about the community coming together,” said Samuel Rudd.
He added that the impact of the event extends beyond the day of play. Funds raised help support long-term community needs.
Registration Open Through Mid-May
Registration for the tournament is currently open. Foursome entries will be accepted through May 14.
Participants can register through the organization’s website. Space is limited, and organizers encourage early registration.
Because of demand in previous years, the event is expected to reach capacity before the deadline.
Corporate Support Drives Event Growth
The tournament receives support from several sponsors. These include Del Taco, Aristocrat, NV State AFL-CIO, The Korte Company, and Rubin Brown.
Sponsorship plays a key role in the event’s success. It helps cover operational costs and increases the amount of funding directed toward community programs.
In addition, sponsors gain visibility among business leaders and participants during the event.
Longstanding Community Impact
United Way of Southern Nevada has operated in the region for more than 65 years. The organization focuses on improving quality of life through targeted programs.
Funds raised in Southern Nevada remain in the local community. This approach allows the organization to address specific regional needs.
Because of its long history, United Way continues to play a central role in local nonprofit efforts. Events like the Golf United Tournament support that mission.
Event Combines Networking and Philanthropy
The Golf United Tournament provides more than a day of golf. It creates an environment where participants can build connections while supporting a cause.
Business leaders, sponsors, and community members attend each year. As a result, the event serves as both a fundraiser and a networking opportunity.
Organizers said the combination of sport and philanthropy helps drive participation. It also encourages ongoing involvement in community programs.
