LAS VEGAS (January 2026) — In recognition of National Human Trafficking Prevention Month, the Wedding Capital of the World™ announced an education event focused on marriage trafficking. The program targets wedding industry professionals across Southern Nevada. As a result, officiants and wedding workers will gain tools to spot risk early. Although cases remain rare locally, leaders stress that awareness can stop harm before it starts.
Program Teaches Clear Warning Signs
The conversation-style program focuses on real situations faced by wedding professionals. Participants will learn how to recognize warning signs of marriage trafficking. In addition, speakers will explain how to identify unwilling or unable participants. The session also covers safe ways to separate a suspected victim. Because of this guidance, professionals can act without causing further harm.
Experts Share Practical Guidance
The panel includes experts from advocacy, law enforcement and local government. Speakers will explain how traffickers may misuse marriage to control victims. Meanwhile, they will stress why early action matters. The discussion also highlights how collaboration helps protect vulnerable individuals.
Local Leaders Stress Prevention
Local leaders emphasized that Las Vegas has a responsibility to lead through education. They noted that most weddings remain joyful events. However, they stressed that even rare trafficking cases deserve attention. Because of this, the goal is to prepare wedding professionals to respond with care. Leaders also emphasized protecting workers while they protect others.

Through its RISE program, the organization also supports trafficking victims. In addition, Signs of HOPE provides free training for businesses and community groups. Signs of HOPE leadership noted that traffickers use many methods to control victims. These methods can include misuse of legal systems. Because of this risk, education remains a key prevention tool. Outreach efforts continue throughout Clark County.
