A major shift is underway in how satellite missions are launched and managed.
Skynopy and SpaceLocker have announced a new partnership during Assises du NewSpace in France. The two startups are teaming up to deliver a smarter, faster, and more affordable model for accessing and managing space infrastructure. As part of this collaboration, SpaceLocker has selected Skynopy to manage the ground connectivity for its next satellite mission, “Out of the Box,” set to launch in February 2026.
A full-stack solution for orbit and access
SpaceLocker offers modular satellite containers that let multiple customers share a single spacecraft. These units range in size and are designed to be plug-and-play. Customers can install their technology and launch quickly without designing or operating a full satellite. The goal is to reduce costs and prevent overcrowding in orbit.
Skynopy handles the ground station side, using a global network of antennas and smart routing tools. Their software-as-a-service system gives users real-time access to satellites. It also allows for faster data downloads and easier mission control. Together, the two companies create a seamless model that works for startups, research labs, and tech providers.
The Skynopy SpaceLocker partnership eliminates barriers for space missions. Users no longer need to build their own systems. They simply connect and launch.
“Out of the Box” takes flight
The mission “Out of the Box” will be SpaceLocker’s third mission and its first fully operated satellite. Skynopy will provide the full ground connection for every customer using that satellite. This ensures that all users get smooth, reliable access to their payloads.
By combining modular orbital tech with fast ground control, the Skynopy SpaceLocker partnership brings flexibility to a complex field. Instead of months of setup and high costs, clients now have a simple, cost-effective path to orbit and data.
Building a shared space ecosystem
Both startups are based in France and have made quick progress. SpaceLocker, founded in 2022, already hosts three client payloads in orbit. Skynopy, founded in 2023, has built a large antenna network through deals with major industry players. Its hybrid system—mixing owned antennas and shared ground stations—helps reduce delays and cut data costs.
This shared model lets users control their tech from the ground while sending fewer satellites into space. It also aligns with global goals for sustainability and smarter satellite use.
The next chapter in NewSpace
This collaboration shows what’s possible when agility meets purpose. The Skynopy SpaceLocker partnership is not just about tools. It’s about giving more people a way to use space effectively.
