LAS VEGAS — The National Atomic Testing Museum is inviting visitors to explore a full schedule of summer events, educational programs and community initiatives throughout July and August.
From a school supply drive benefiting local students to a special Fallout-themed presentation and a celebration of Japanese culture, the museum continues to create new ways for guests to engage with history, science and community service.
The museum will offer free admission for active-duty military members on Aug. 15 as part of its ongoing commitment to serving the Las Vegas community.
Supporting students through Project 150
The National Atomic Testing Museum has partnered with Project 150 for a Back-to-School Supply Drive running through July 24.
Visitors can donate new school supplies during regular museum hours and receive $5 off a general admission ticket. The program helps homeless, displaced and disadvantaged high school students prepare for the upcoming school year.
Requested donations include notebooks, loose-leaf paper, binders, flash drives, backpacks, pens, folders, markers and other classroom essentials.
As a result, visitors can support local students while enjoying one of Southern Nevada’s most popular educational attractions.
Project 150 currently serves students at 75 high schools in Southern Nevada and 30 schools in Reno. The organization provides resources, mentorship and support programs that help young people overcome challenges and achieve success.
Fallout fans have a reason to visit
Gaming enthusiasts will have a special opportunity on Aug. 1 during the museum’s next Atomic Stories program.
Chris Barnardo, co-founder of The Wand Company and author of Advances in the Art of Being, will present “Out of the Vault and into Reality.”
During the presentation, Barnardo will discuss the design, engineering and craftsmanship behind premium collectibles. Guests will also learn more about the highly detailed Fallout 3 and Fallout: New Vegas Pip-Boy 3000 replicas.
Everyone attending the presentation will automatically be entered into a giveaway for a brand-new Pip-Boy 3000.
The event is included with museum admission. However, seating is limited and available on a first-come, first-served basis.
Japanese culture takes center stage
The museum will continue its summer programming on Aug. 8 with Taiko & Traditions: A Day of Japanese Arts.
The family-friendly event will feature live Taiko drumming performances, traditional Tendo Baikoki dance demonstrations and interactive cultural activities.
Guests can also explore Japanese calligraphy, learn basic language skills and participate in origami workshops.
The event offers an engaging way for visitors of all ages to experience Japanese traditions through music, movement and hands-on learning.
Military members receive free admission
The National Atomic Testing Museum will honor active-duty military personnel on Aug. 15 with complimentary admission.
Active-duty service members and eligible spouses with valid identification will receive one free admission ticket. In addition, families may receive 10% off admission for up to four dependent children.
The museum hosts similar appreciation days throughout the year. Consequently, the program remains an important way to recognize those who serve the nation.
A summer filled with discovery
Whether visitors enjoy history, science, gaming or cultural experiences, the National Atomic Testing Museum offers something for everyone this summer.
Each event encourages learning while creating opportunities for community engagement.
July and August promise to be busy months at one of Las Vegas’ most unique museums.
