The Moonridge Foundation is partnering with Moonrise Next Gen and El Cortez Hotel & Casino for the return of Downtown Cares, a volunteer event focused on helping local nonprofit organizations in Downtown Las Vegas.
This year’s Downtown Cares event will take place Saturday, May 16, from 9 a.m. to 12 p.m. Volunteers will work at Nevada Youth Network, a nonprofit organization that provides tutoring, mentoring, and extracurricular programs for children living at Sherman Gardens Annex.
Organizers are currently looking for 100 volunteers to help improve and refresh the Nevada Youth Network campus.

Volunteers Will Help Improve Youth Campus
The volunteer project will focus on beautification and cleanup efforts designed to create a more welcoming environment for children and families.
Community members will help with painting, landscaping, cleanup projects, and other hands-on work throughout the campus.
Organizers said the event gives volunteers a chance to see the direct impact of their efforts while supporting children and families in the downtown community.
Because the project takes place on-site, volunteers will work closely with the nonprofit organization and its staff during the event.

Downtown Cares Has Supported Las Vegas Nonprofits for Years
Downtown Cares has operated for more than a decade in partnership with El Cortez Hotel & Casino.
Over the years, the volunteer initiative has supported many nonprofit organizations across Southern Nevada.
Past projects have benefited groups including Boys & Girls Clubs of Southern Nevada, The Shade Tree, Las Vegas Rescue Mission, Catholic Charities of Southern Nevada, and Veterans Village.
Because of the project’s community focus, organizers say Downtown Cares continues attracting volunteers from businesses, nonprofit groups, and local families.

Moonrise Next Gen Encourages Young Philanthropy
Moonrise Next Gen launched in 2022 through a partnership with members of Moonridge Group’s Greater Good Council and Nevada Corporate Giving Council.
The organization focuses on encouraging younger generations to become involved in volunteer work and charitable giving.
Founders Jess Molasky, Christina Ellis, and Dina Ciulla created the group to help inspire future community leaders through philanthropy and service.
“One of the most powerful aspects of the Downtown Cares program is seeing the impact of your work immediately,” Molasky said.
She added that the volunteer event creates meaningful connections between volunteers and local nonprofit organizations.

Nevada Youth Network Serves Downtown Families
Nevada Youth Network provides after-school programs, tutoring services, and enrichment activities for children living in the Sherman Gardens Annex community.
The organization works to create safe spaces for students while supporting academic growth and personal development.
Officials said projects like Downtown Cares help improve the campus environment for both students and families.
Because many nonprofit organizations operate with limited resources, volunteer projects often provide important support that might otherwise take months to complete.
Community Service Continues Growing Across Las Vegas
Volunteer events and community improvement projects continue expanding throughout Southern Nevada.
Local organizations increasingly rely on partnerships with businesses, foundations, and volunteers to complete projects that directly impact neighborhoods and families.
Industry experts say volunteer initiatives also help strengthen relationships between nonprofits and the communities they serve.
As a result, events like Downtown Cares continue attracting strong support from local residents and corporate teams.
Volunteers Can Register Now
Organizers said volunteers may participate individually, with friends, or as part of company groups.
The event will take place at Nevada Youth Network, located at 910 N. Weaver Drive in Las Vegas.
Registration remains open for community members interested in participating.
