Clark County Family Services will host its annual “Evening with the Stars of Foster Care” on Tuesday, April 22, 2025, at 6 p.m. inside the Pearson Recreation Center, located at 1625 W Carey Avenue in North Las Vegas. This event is designed to honor current foster parents and recruit new ones—especially within the African American community.
A Call for Culturally Responsive Foster Homes
There is a critical need for African American foster parents in Clark County. Children thrive in homes that reflect their culture and identity. That’s why this year’s event will shine a spotlight on the urgent need for culturally supportive foster care placements. A panel of experienced African American foster parents will share their stories, opening up about both challenges and rewards.
Voices from the Community
According to Commissioner William McCurdy II, these conversations are essential. He believes that events like this help bridge the gap and build understanding. By showcasing lived experiences, the event aims to encourage community members to step forward and make a lasting impact. Every shared story is a chance to inspire someone else to say yes.
Foster Care is a Journey of Growth
Clark County Family Services Director Frank Prado emphasizes that foster parenting is demanding but deeply fulfilling. It takes patience, compassion, and commitment. However, the emotional reward—watching a child heal, grow, and thrive—is immeasurable. That’s why the county is actively seeking African American individuals and families ready to embrace this vital role.
Support for New Foster Parents On-Site
At the event, Clark County Family Services representatives will provide direct guidance. They will explain the application process, review qualifications, and highlight the support systems available to all new foster parents. On-site fingerprinting will be offered for attendees who want to begin the registration process immediately.
All Are Welcome to Attend
Although the event highlights the need for African American foster parents, everyone interested in fostering is encouraged to attend. Whether you’re exploring the idea or ready to take action, this evening offers answers, support, and community connection. The event is free and open to the public Just Now News.
