New facility combines hospital care and addiction recovery under one roof
HENDERSON, Nev. — Southern Nevada marked a major healthcare milestone yesterday as Las Vegas Recovery Hospital celebrated its grand opening in Henderson. The new facility is the region’s first fully integrated acute medical and addiction recovery hospital, designed to treat serious medical conditions and substance use disorders at the same time.
Hospital leaders say the goal is to remove stigma while closing a long-standing gap between traditional hospital treatment and addiction recovery services. Patients often face both medical crises and substance-related challenges, yet few facilities treat both needs together. This hospital was created to change that reality in Southern Nevada.

Integrated care model focuses on whole-person treatment
Las Vegas Recovery Hospital operates as a 68-bed acute care facility offering 24/7 medical supervision. Doctors and nurses manage conditions such as severe infections, organ dysfunction and complex withdrawal symptoms. At the same time, recovery specialists support long-term addiction treatment and stabilization.
The multidisciplinary team includes addiction-certified physicians, psychiatrists, nurse practitioners, social workers and certified recovery specialists. Each patient receives an individualized care plan that addresses both immediate medical needs and long-term recovery goals. Administrators say this approach improves outcomes because patients remain in one coordinated system rather than transferring between facilities.

Operated by Lion Health System
The hospital is a member of Lion Health System, which focuses on medically managed care for patients with substance use disorder and related conditions. Company leaders identified Southern Nevada as a region with significant unmet need.
Instead of building a new structure, Lion Health System leased and repurposed existing space on the Rose de Lima campus. The hospital now occupies the third and fourth floors of the 1990 Tower. This decision allowed services to begin sooner and reduced the delays often tied to new construction projects.

Grand opening draws public officials
Yesterday’s ceremony included healthcare leaders, community stakeholders and government representatives. Speakers recognized the hospital’s potential to improve care access across the Las Vegas Valley.
Representatives for Gov. Joe Lombardo joined the program, along with U.S. Rep. Dina Titus and Clark County Commissioner Michael Naft. Henderson city officials and state legislators also participated.
A ribbon-cutting ceremony followed the remarks, after which media toured the facility and interviewed hospital leadership.
Facility designed for dignity and privacy
The 32,000-square-foot hospital includes both single and double rooms. Every room features a private bathroom, a design choice meant to promote comfort and dignity. Administrators say environment plays a critical role in recovery and patient cooperation.
Calm spaces, natural lighting and reduced noise help patients focus on healing. Staff members emphasize respect and stigma-free care as core principles.
Insurance access and community impact
Las Vegas Recovery Hospital accepts Medicare, Medicaid and most major private insurance plans. Leaders say broad coverage ensures more patients can receive treatment without financial barriers.
Healthcare advocates note that substance use disorder frequently overlaps with serious medical issues. Without integrated care, many patients cycle through emergency rooms without lasting recovery. Facilities like this aim to break that cycle.
Expanding services in underserved areas
Lion Health System continues to expand hospital-level addiction treatment in communities that lack resources. The organization often redevelops existing facilities to bring care online faster. Officials say the Henderson hospital could serve as a model for similar projects nationwide.
Local leaders believe the facility will strengthen Southern Nevada’s healthcare network and provide a new safety net for vulnerable residents.
