Liz Loomis Appointed VP for Island Operations at HVCB

Hawai‘i Visitors and Convention Bureau has appointed Elizabeth “Liz” Loomis as vice president of island integration and operations as the organization continues strengthening collaboration across the Hawaiian Islands.

The appointment became effective on May 4, 2026, according to the organization. Officials said the newly created leadership position will help connect island-level operations with HVCB’s broader statewide tourism strategy.

Loomis will oversee HVCB’s Island Bureau teams across Kaua‘i, O‘ahu, Maui, and Hawai‘i Island while helping integrate local perspectives into statewide decision-making.

New Role Focuses on Island Collaboration

HVCB leaders say the position was designed to improve communication and coordination between island teams and executive leadership.

“We operate in service to our communities and our industry across Hawai‘i,” said Dr. Aaron J. Salā, president and CEO of HVCB.

He added that island insight must remain central to the organization’s decision-making process.

According to Salā, Loomis will help translate local issues and opportunities into enterprise-wide action while supporting each island’s unique visitor industry priorities.

The organization said the role also aims to strengthen long-term collaboration between tourism operations, community stakeholders, and statewide planning efforts.

Loomis Brings Strong Hawai‘i Industry Experience

Loomis brings more than 15 years of Hawai‘i-based leadership experience to the position.

Before joining HVCB, she held several leadership roles with Hawaiian Airlines and Alaska Airlines.

During her airline career, Loomis worked closely with airport authorities, government agencies, tourism leaders, and transportation partners throughout Hawai‘i.

She also recently served on the executive committee for the Airlines Committee of Hawai‘i, where she helped coordinate industry efforts involving air service, airport infrastructure, and visitor industry operations.

Because Hawai‘i’s tourism economy relies heavily on transportation and inter-island coordination, officials say Loomis brings valuable operational experience to the new role.

Hawai‘i Tourism Industry Continues Evolving

The appointment comes as Hawai‘i’s tourism industry continues balancing visitor growth with community priorities and long-term sustainability planning.

In recent years, tourism organizations across the islands have placed greater focus on responsible tourism, cultural preservation, and community-based visitor experiences.

HVCB leaders say stronger integration between island teams will help ensure tourism strategies reflect the unique needs and character of each island.

“As someone born and raised in Hawai‘i, I care deeply about how our visitor industry shows up for our communities and our future,” Loomis said.

She added that the role provides an opportunity to support local teams while helping build a shared statewide vision for Hawai‘i tourism.

HVCB Continues Statewide Tourism Efforts

Hawai‘i Visitors and Convention Bureau remains one of the state’s leading tourism marketing and visitor industry organizations.

The bureau works with tourism partners, airlines, hotels, cultural organizations, and local businesses to promote Hawai‘i travel worldwide.

Meanwhile, industry leaders continue watching how Hawai‘i balances tourism demand with long-term community and environmental goals.

Officials say Loomis’ appointment reflects HVCB’s growing focus on stronger island coordination and more locally informed tourism leadership moving forward.
