Clark County just greenlit a major housing investment aimed squarely at solving the region’s growing crisis. To address the need for Clark County affordable housing, on Tuesday, the Board of County Commissioners approved a $45.4 million package to fund five new projects in Laughlin, Nevada. The effort will create 590 new homes and upgrade 207 older units, directly improving living conditions for low-income residents.

Renters Earning Under $57K Will Qualify

The new housing isn’t open to everyone. It’s specifically for people earning 60% or less of the Area Median Income (AMI)—roughly $57,000 per year. What’s more, each project must dedicate at least 10% of its units to renters making just 30% AMI, or about $28,000 annually. That built-in requirement ensures the most vulnerable aren’t left behind.

Federal Funding Adds Fuel to the Fire

This local money isn’t working alone. Clark County also approved an extra $5.5 million in HUD HOME funds for 2025 and 2026. That will support five more developments, expected to bring in another 603 affordable housing units through both new construction and renovation. Together, these projects will give hundreds more families a safe, affordable place to live.

Commission Chair Tick Segerblom says this isn’t just a housing solution—it’s an economic engine. He estimates the $45.4 million commitment could trigger up to $300 million in regional growth. Welcome Home Fund Keeps Delivering

These developments are being powered by the Welcome Home Community Housing Fund, launched in April 2022. Since then, Clark County has invested over $230 million into affordable housing.
