As Paris Paralympic Games 2024 approaches, the city is preparing to showcase the Games with a series of road events that promise an exceptional experience against the stunning backdrop of the Ile-de-France region. From September 1 to 8, the Paralympic Games will feature exciting road events, including the Para triathlon, Para cycling, and the Paralympic Marathon, each offering a unique opportunity for the public to enjoy world-class sports close to home.

Para Triathlon: A Scenic Competition
The Para triathlon will kick off the events on September 1, taking place in the heart of Paris. Athletes will compete in a course featuring iconic locations such as the Alexandre III bridge and the Seine. The competition schedule includes familiarization sessions on August 29 and 30, with the main events happening on September 1 from 8:15 am to 2:40 pm. The course will include a 750-meter swim, a 20-kilometer bike ride, and a 5-kilometer run.
Traffic impacts for the Para triathlon will include the establishment of barriers along the race course between 5 and 3 hours before the event. A no-traffic perimeter will be set up 3 hours before the start, with access restricted to residents and authorized personnel. Pedestrian and cyclist crossing points will be available every 200 to 300 meters, ensuring safe passage while minimizing disruptions.

Para Road Cycling: An Enthralling Circuit
The Para road cycling events, scheduled from September 4 to 7, will feature three distinct competitions: the time trial, the road race, and the mixed team relay. The time trial and road race will utilize a 14.2-kilometer circuit, while the mixed team relay will be concentrated in Clichy-sous-Bois. The schedule includes familiarization sessions on September 3 and competitive events from September 4 to 7.
Traffic management for the Para road cycling events will involve lane closures 3 hours before the competitions, with gradual reopening after the races. Special arrangements, including Games Passes, will be made for residents and authorized personnel to minimize disruptions while ensuring safety.

Paralympic Marathon: A Majestic Route
The Paralympic Marathon on September 8 will traverse nine communes in the Seine-Saint-Denis department before finishing at the Esplanade des Invalides in Paris. This 42.195-kilometer race will showcase the diverse landscapes of the region and offer free access to spectators along the route.
To accommodate the marathon, roads will be closed from 3 am on September 8, with a no-traffic perimeter set up 3 hours before the race starts. Vehicle crossing points will be available up to one hour before the marathon begins and will reopen 15 minutes after the final athlete passes.
