Paris 2024 Unveils Special Medal Mascots for Winning Athletes

As the countdown to the Paris 2024 Olympic Games continues, the organizing committee has revealed a unique addition to the medal-winning tradition. Just four days before the first victory ceremony, Paris 2024 introduced the medal mascot, a special edition gift that will be presented to all medal-winning athletes alongside their medals.

Honoring Tradition at the Paris 2024 Games

Winning an Olympic medal is a momentous achievement, symbolizing years of dedication and hard work. At the Paris 2024 Games, this milestone will be celebrated with a distinctive twist. Each medal-winning athlete, whether they earn gold, silver, or bronze, will receive not only their medal but also a specially designed medal-winning mascot and an official poster of the Games.

During the victory ceremonies for the Olympic Games, athletes will be presented with their medals and an official poster, while the medal-winning mascot will be given at the end of the competition. For the Paralympic Games, the order is reversed: athletes will receive their mascot during the victory ceremony and their poster at a later date. These presentations will be conducted by 515 Paris 2024 volunteer presenters, ensuring a memorable moment for each athlete.

Crafted in Brittany: The New Medal-Winning Mascots

Continuing the partnership established in November 2022, Paris 2024 collaborated with the Doudou & Compagnie group to create the medal-winning mascots. These mascots, known as “Phryges,” are manufactured in La Guerche-de-Bretagne, France, and have become iconic symbols of the Games. Each mascot will feature a medal emblem sewn on its belly, color-coded sneakers representing gold, silver, or bronze, and the word “Bravo” inscribed on its back. The Paralympic mascots will also include a prosthesis and “Bravo” written in Braille.

The number of these special edition mascots produced will match the number of medal-winning athletes at the Paris 2024 Games, making each mascot a unique keepsake for the athletes.

Exclusive Official Posters

In addition to the mascots, medal-winning athletes will receive official posters of the Games. These posters, which were unveiled last March, will be presented in either their Olympic or Paralympic versions, depending on the event. For fans and collectors, a limited edition “celebration” version of the posters will be available for sale to the general public starting July 25, 2024, with only 2024 copies available exclusively through the Paris 2024 online store.

The introduction of the medal mascot at the Paris 2024 Games adds a special touch to the victory ceremonies, celebrating the athletes’ achievements with a unique and meaningful gift. As the Games approach, the anticipation builds for what promises to be a memorable celebration of sport and excellence in Paris.
