A wave of revitalization is reshaping Ottawa’s downtown core and boosting the city’s ability to host world-class business events.
More than $1.5 billion in public and private investment is now flowing into central Ottawa, upgrading venues, hotels, and infrastructure that directly support global meetings and conferences.

Major venues boost capacity and creativity
One of the most anticipated projects is History Ottawa, a 2,000-capacity venue from Live Nation Canada opening in early 2026. Its downtown location, flexible design, and modern AV systems will attract both business and entertainment events.
Just opened this summer, the Hard Rock Hotel Ottawa delivers a full-scale event solution. The property includes 150 rooms, 22 suites, a 1,800-seat theatre, casino, lounges, and dining—an all-in-one experience for event planners.
In ByWard Market, the new AC Marriott Ottawa adds 159 rooms and over 3,600 square feet of meeting space. Right next door, the vibrant Moxy Ottawa offers 224 rooms and a bold, creative setting tailored for modern gatherings.
Cultural investment and city-wide transformation
Looking ahead to 2026, the Ādisōke library and archive will provide inclusive space for workshops, receptions, and cultural programs. This joint effort by the City of Ottawa and Library and Archives Canada reflects ongoing support for community inclusion and Indigenous reconciliation.
Beyond venues, Ottawa is reimagining its public spaces. New murals, art installations, and walkable streetscapes are turning the city into an engaging, accessible place to explore before and after meetings.
Much of this expansion is led by Ottawa Unlimited, a joint initiative from Ottawa Tourism, Invest Ottawa, and the Ottawa Board of Trade. This partnership aligns economic goals with design, walkability, and the overall delegate experience.

International access brings global attendees
Expanded air connectivity is making it even easier to bring in attendees. Direct Air Canada flights from London Heathrow returned in March 2025, and new Air France flights from Paris-Charles de Gaulle began in April 2024.
These routes offer multiple weekly flights with smooth European transfers, helping planners overcome travel challenges. For associations, corporations, and international delegations, the access improvements deliver higher attendance and reduced friction.
These upgrades give Ottawa a major edge when competing for international events. As travel becomes easier, confidence in booking the city continues to rise across Europe and beyond.
A bold new chapter for Canada’s capital
The city is evolving into a vibrant, walkable, and highly connected destination with a focus on culture, accessibility, and innovation. Event organizers can now deliver memorable experiences across new venues, upgraded hotels, and scenic public spaces.
From expanded air service to modern gathering spaces, Ottawa is building a better experience for both attendees and planners. The city’s reinvestment in culture, design, and functionality is setting a new benchmark in North America.
