“Volia Space” to Open on July 27, Featuring Dozens of Prominent Speakers, Multimedia Presentations, and High-Profile Discussions Throughout the Paris Games
Kyiv, Ukraine – July 17, 2024 – The Ministry of Youth and Sports of Ukraine proudly announces the creation of Ukraine House, named Volia Space, an exclusive initiative for the 2024 Paris Olympic Games. Hosted at Le Trabendo club within La Villette Park from July 27 to August 10, Volia Space will feature prominent speakers, including current and former athletes, celebrities, and important political guests.
Volia Space: Celebrating Ukrainian Spirit and Resilience
Volia Space, meaning “Will to Win Space,” is dedicated to showcasing the strength and spirit of the Ukrainian people. The mission is clear: to demonstrate the unwavering Ukrainian will to win, both in sports and in the ongoing battle for justice and peace. Bravery Ukrainians defend the world from the Russian invasion, protecting Olympic values and the right to a just and peaceful life. Through 15 days of multimedia presentations, cultural exhibitions, and high-profile discussions, the project aims to affirm Ukraine’s status as a reliable partner in the democratic world.
Prominent Guests and Speakers
Volia Space will welcome a star-studded lineup of guests, including:
- Matvii Bidnyi, Acting Minister of Youth and Sports of Ukraine
- Vadym Gutsait, President of the Ukrainian National Olympic Committee
- Andriy Shevchenko, Ballon D’Or winner
- Oleksandr Zinchenko, Ukrainian international footballer
- Ruslan Rotan, Olympic football team coach
- Oleksandr Usyk, boxing champion
- Mstislav Chernov, Oscar-winning director
- Jamala, award-winning singer
- Elina Svitolina and Marta Kostyuk, WTA Tennis stars
International guests and speakers will also participate in many scheduled events, with the final schedule to be announced shortly.
Promoting Ukraine’s Cultural Heritage and Fight for Freedom
Beyond sports, the initiative aims to promote Ukraine’s rich cultural heritage and ongoing fight for freedom. Daily activities will range from meetings with Ukrainian performers to discussions on the impact of war on sports infrastructure, providing a comprehensive look at the nation’s challenges and triumphs. The venue will feature high-end installations, a multimedia gallery, and areas for live interviews and other media-related events, ensuring an immersive experience for all visitors.
Resilience in the Face of Adversity
“Ukrainians train under the conditions of war, under shelling, and often while losing loved ones. The mere fact that under such conditions Ukrainian Olympians are performing in Paris is a significant manifestation of the will to win. “Volia Space” will become a cultural and media hub for Ukraine, as well as a place where everyone can feel the Ukrainian will to victory and become a part of it,” says Matvii Bidnyi, Acting Minister of Youth and Sports of Ukraine.
Since the start of the Russian full-scale invasion of Ukraine, more than 400 Ukrainian athletes have been killed, including some of the country’s brightest Olympic prospects. While many of Ukraine’s Olympic hopefuls have been sent to train abroad ahead of the Paris Games, others have chosen to defend their country’s honor on the battlefield instead of the sports arena. This stark reality underscores the resilience and determination that Volia Space seeks to highlight.
