Summer displays will light up the Strip and downtown Las Vegas
LAS VEGAS — Las Vegas will celebrate America’s 250th anniversary with weekly fireworks shows this summer. Celebrating America250 with eight consecutive Saturdays of fireworks, beginning at 9 p.m. PDT from June 6 through July 25.
The Las Vegas Convention and Visitors Authority announced the new event this week. The city plans to launch eight-minute fireworks displays over the Strip and downtown Las Vegas.
Officials expect the shows to attract tourists and local residents throughout the summer. They also believe the event will boost travel activity during one of the city’s busiest seasons.
Las Vegas already hosts major fireworks celebrations during New Year’s Eve and the Fourth of July. However, this new series will give visitors more chances to watch fireworks during the summer months.
Fireworks will stretch across the skyline
The weekly fireworks shows will take place in several areas near the Strip and downtown district. As a result, visitors across the resort corridor should have strong viewing spots.
Organizers want the displays to create a large visual experience across the city skyline. In addition, tourism leaders hope the event will encourage visitors to explore more entertainment areas throughout Las Vegas.
The fireworks series will help nearby businesses. Restaurants, casinos, bars, and hotels could see higher traffic on event nights. Meanwhile, local families will gain another free entertainment option during the summer.
Tourism Officials Expect Strong Visitor Interest
Tourism officials expect the weekly fireworks show to attract both visitors and local residents throughout the summer season.
The Las Vegas Convention and Visitors Authority said the event supports ongoing tourism efforts across Southern Nevada. Officials continue looking for new entertainment options that encourage longer visitor stays and additional nighttime activity throughout the resort corridor.
The fireworks shows will take place every Saturday night at 9 p.m. throughout the summer. Each eight-minute production will be synchronized to music broadcast on Lotus Broadcasting radio stations including KOMP 92.3 FM, 97.1 FM The Point and 98.9 HANK FM.
Summer tourism remains a major part of the Las Vegas economy. The city continues hosting concerts, sporting events, conventions, festivals and live entertainment across the valley during the busy travel season.
Meanwhile, tourism leaders believe the patriotic fireworks theme will connect with travelers visiting during the upcoming America250 anniversary celebration.
Cities across the country are planning public events to recognize the 250th anniversary of the Declaration of Independence. Las Vegas officials said the weekly fireworks series is designed to create a larger entertainment experience that reflects the city’s energy, nightlife and celebration culture.
