Tragic Vegas Strip Shooting: YouTuber Arrested

A deadly incident on the Las Vegas Strip claimed two lives and stunned the YouTube community June 8th 2025. The Vegas Strip shooting involved YouTuber Manuel “Manny” Ruiz, who allegedly opened fire on fellow streamer Rodney Finley and his wife, Tanisha Finley. Both victims succumbed to gunshot wounds outside the Bellagio Hotel & Casino on Sunday at 11 p.m.

Incident overview

On June 8, 2025, around 11:00 p.m., Ruiz confronted the Finleys as they livestreamed their visit, which eventually led to the tragic Vegas Strip shooting incident. Soon after Ruiz approached, shots rang out. Rodney Finley, 44, suffered multiple gunshot wounds and died at the scene. Tanisha Finley, 43, received two fatal head wounds. Witnesses described a tense exchange moments before the violence erupted. Next, surveillance and livestream footage captured Ruiz firing his weapon before fleeing the area.

Moreover, Ruiz turned himself in to Las Vegas Metropolitan Police the following morning. He claimed self-defense, alleging that Finley reached for a weapon. However, officers found no firearm on the victims or nearby. Consequently, detectives classified both deaths as homicides. Metro Homicide detectives continue to review video evidence and witness accounts to reconstruct the exact sequence of events related to the shooting.

In Justice Court on June 10, Ruiz appeared before Judge Amy Chelini. Prosecutors charged him in two cases connected with the Vegas shooting: Case 2025-3909 for Tanisha Finley (two gunshot wounds of the head) and Case 2025-3910 for Rodney Finley (multiple gunshot wounds). Judge Chelini ordered Ruiz held without bail. Ruiz then requested a three-week continuance to hire private counsel and prepare his defense. Therefore, the next hearing is set for June 28.

Furthermore, attorneys for both sides plan to file motions regarding evidence admissibility connected to the Vegas Strip shooting. Defense lawyers will scrutinize the video recordings and forensic reports. Meanwhile, prosecutors aim to solidify witness testimonies and ballistic analyses. As a result, both parties brace for intensive pretrial negotiations.

Community response and next steps

News of the Vegas Strip shooting rippled through the online streaming community. Fellow creators and fans honored the Finleys’ legacy with tributes on social media. In addition, community leaders urged anyone with information about the shooting to contact Metro Homicide at (702) 828-3521. The Bellagio and surrounding casinos cooperated fully with investigators.

Participants in upcoming court dates include Ruiz’s selected counsel, homicide detectives, and victim advocates. Community members will gather at a memorial service later this month to celebrate the Finleys’ lives. As this tragic case advances through the justice system, focusing on the unfortunate events on the Vegas Strip, the city watches closely for accountability and closure.
