Fifth issue of free superhero series teaches families about hidden water contamination
LAS VEGAS – May 22, 2026 — Multipure has released the fifth issue of its free “Dewey, The Clean Water Superhero” comic book series, continuing the company’s effort to educate families about water quality and environmental health.
The newest issue, titled Plastic Pretender, focuses on the growing concern surrounding microplastics in drinking water. Through a child-friendly superhero story, the comic explains how plastic pollution can impact water systems and why awareness continues to grow worldwide.
Multipure said the comic series aims to make complex environmental topics easier for children and families to understand. As concerns over water contamination continue to increase, the company said education remains an important part of the conversation.

New storyline centers on hidden plastic pollution
In the latest issue, readers follow Dewey as he faces a new threat linked to plastic waste. The story begins when a flashy new hero named Everform arrives in the city and solves problems using plastic materials.
At first, citizens celebrate Everform’s quick solutions. However, Dewey soon notices a larger problem developing beneath the surface. The plastic materials begin breaking down and leaking into the city’s water supply.
As the contamination spreads, a villain called Microplastico emerges from the growing buildup of plastic waste. Dewey then realizes he cannot solve the crisis through strength alone. Instead, he must stop the pollution at its source and restore clean water to the community.
According to Multipure, the storyline was designed to introduce children to real-world environmental issues in a way that feels approachable and engaging.

Company highlights growing concern over microplastics
Multipure leaders said the issue of microplastics has become harder to ignore in recent years. Researchers have identified microscopic plastic particles in tap water, bottled water, rivers, lakes, and oceans around the world.
Zachary Rice, president of Multipure, said the company wants families to better understand the issue and its possible impact.
“Microplastics are a growing issue that most people never see, but they are becoming impossible to ignore,” Rice said. “It is important for families to be informed and to understand these challenges. We are providing the information in a kid-friendly way, turning real water issues into compelling stories that help raise awareness.”
A global study cited by the company found that up to 83 percent of tap water worldwide contained microplastics. Researchers have also linked ingested microplastic particles to harmful effects in animals, raising concerns about possible risks to human health.

Water quality concerns continue shaping consumer behavior
Growing awareness about contaminants in drinking water has also influenced consumer habits. According to a recent multi-year survey conducted by Multipure, nearly two-thirds of respondents said water quality concerns affected their decision to purchase a filtration system.
The company said concerns over contaminants, aging infrastructure, and environmental pollution continue driving interest in home water filtration products.
At the same time, educational outreach remains a major focus for Multipure. Through the Dewey comic series, the company hopes to encourage conversations about sustainability, environmental responsibility, and safe drinking water.
