LAS VEGAS — Wine enthusiasts and food lovers will have another opportunity to explore one of Italy’s most distinctive wine regions when Ferraro’s Ristorante hosts its next Taste & Learn event on Saturday, Aug. 29. The monthly series has become a favorite among Las Vegas diners by combining authentic Italian cuisine with guided wine education in an intimate setting.
The evening begins at 5 p.m. and focuses on wines from Grosjean, a family-owned winery in Italy’s Aosta Valley. Guests will enjoy four carefully selected wines. Additionally, each pour will arrive with a chef-crafted small plate designed to highlight the wine’s unique character.

A mountain wine region worth discovering
Italy is home to many famous vineyards. However, Aosta Valley often remains one of the country’s best-kept secrets. Located among the towering Alps in northwestern Italy, the region produces wines known for crisp acidity, fresh aromas and remarkable balance.
For generations, the Grosjean family has farmed vineyards in this rugged landscape. Today, the winery continues to blend tradition with quality while producing wines that reflect the region’s cool climate and mineral-rich soils. As a result, each bottle delivers flavors that are both elegant and expressive.
Executive Chef Mimmo Ferraro believes the region deserves more recognition. He said the wines offer exceptional versatility at the table and pair naturally with seasonal Italian dishes prepared from fresh ingredients.

Four courses celebrate Italian flavors
The evening opens with Petite Arvine, an aromatic white wine featuring bright citrus, delicate floral notes and refreshing minerality. Meanwhile, the first course pairs the wine with scallop crudo, orange carpaccio, fennel, pine nuts and fresh herbs.
Next, guests will sample Gamay, a lively red offering notes of raspberry, cherry and gentle spice. Consequently, Chef Ferraro pairs it with a savory mushroom tart made with ricotta, shallots, thyme and red wine reduction.
The third pairing highlights Pinot Noir. The elegant red offers soft tannins and vibrant berry flavors. Likewise, it complements roasted beet risotto finished with creamy goat cheese and toasted hazelnuts.
Finally, the tasting concludes with Torrette, one of Aosta Valley’s signature wines. Rich flavors of blackberry, dark cherry and herbs accompany veal loin stuffed with prosciutto cotto and fontina cheese. Together, the final pairing delivers a memorable finish to the evening.

Learning through every course
Taste & Learn is more than a traditional wine dinner. Instead, each event encourages guests to discover the history, growing conditions and winemaking traditions behind every featured bottle.
Throughout the evening, participants learn how grape varieties, elevation and climate influence flavor. In addition, they gain practical insight into pairing wine with authentic Italian cuisine. Therefore, the experience appeals to both longtime collectors and first-time wine explorers.
