LAS VEGAS — The Las Vegas Science & Natural History Museum is inviting artists from across Southern Nevada to showcase their creativity during its annual Hispanic Heritage Month Art Exhibition. The community exhibition will be on display throughout September and will highlight the beauty of Latin America’s wildlife, natural landscapes and diverse ecosystems while exploring their connection to culture and identity.
The museum is now accepting submissions from artists of all ages, backgrounds and experience levels. Whether participants are professional artists, students or first-time creators, everyone is encouraged to submit original work inspired by the region’s rich environmental heritage.
This year’s exhibition asks artists to reflect on one central question: “How do wildlife, ecosystems and natural landscapes tell stories of culture, identity and belonging across Latin America?”
Celebrating nature through art
Organizers hope the exhibition will encourage visitors to explore the relationship between conservation, biodiversity and cultural traditions throughout Latin America.
Artists are encouraged to create original pieces inspired by native wildlife, rainforests, deserts, mountains, coastlines and other natural environments that have shaped generations of communities across the region.
Selected artwork will help spark conversations about environmental stewardship while celebrating the beauty and diversity of Latin America’s landscapes and wildlife.
Museum officials say the exhibition continues to grow each year by bringing together artists whose work reflects both personal experiences and shared cultural traditions.
Multiple art forms accepted
The museum welcomes submissions in several artistic mediums. While two-dimensional artwork will receive priority, artists may also submit sculptures, photography and mixed-media creations.
Accepted sculpture materials include metal, wood, ceramic, plaster, cardboard and found objects. Photography entries may include digital images, traditional silver gelatin prints, alternative photographic processes or photo collages. Artists may also submit collage work using paper, metal, acetate and other flat materials.
Artwork must be appropriate for visitors of all ages and free of graphic violence, vulgarity or sexually explicit content.
To ensure the artwork fits within exhibit space, submissions cannot exceed 80 inches by 30 inches by 78 inches. Video submissions will not be accepted.
Important dates for artists
Artwork submissions are being accepted now through Friday, Aug. 14, at 11:59 p.m.
Artists selected for the exhibition will receive notification between Aug. 17 and Aug. 19.
The Hispanic Heritage Month Art Exhibition will be displayed inside the Las Vegas Science & Natural History Museum from Sept. 1 through Sept. 30, giving thousands of visitors an opportunity to experience the community’s artistic talent.
