More than 100 volunteers gathered in Downtown Las Vegas on Saturday for the annual Downtown Cares community service event benefiting Nevada Youth Network.
The volunteer project was hosted by The Moonridge Foundation alongside Moonrise Next Gen and El Cortez Hotel & Casino.
JUST NOW NEWS was on the scene throughout the morning as volunteers worked across the Nevada Youth Network campus.

Volunteers Begin Work Early Saturday Morning
The event started at 9 a.m. near Sherman Gardens Annex in Downtown Las Vegas.
First, volunteers gathered for instructions before splitting into work groups across the property. Many participants wore matching blue Downtown Cares shirts while carrying paint supplies, gardening tools, and cleanup equipment.
Throughout the morning, teams painted walls, cleaned sidewalks, removed trash, and refreshed outdoor areas used by children and families.
Meanwhile, other volunteers worked on landscaping projects around the campus.
Because the projects happened outdoors, volunteers worked steadily through warm morning temperatures.

Nevada Youth Network Supports Local Children
Nevada Youth Network provides tutoring, mentoring, and after-school programs for children living in the surrounding neighborhood.
The nonprofit also creates educational and recreational activities for local families throughout the year.
Organizers said the Downtown Cares event helps improve the campus before summer programs begin.
As the morning continued, visible changes quickly appeared across the property.
Fresh paint brightened outdoor areas. In addition, cleaned walkways and refreshed gathering spaces created a more welcoming environment for students and families.

Downtown Cares Continues Long Community Tradition
Downtown Cares has supported local nonprofit organizations in Las Vegas for more than a decade.
Each year, volunteers gather to complete projects that directly benefit community spaces throughout Southern Nevada.
Meanwhile, organizers say the event continues attracting more volunteers every year.
JUST NOW NEWS observed volunteers moving between cleanup stations and painting areas throughout the morning.
Several community leaders also stopped by the event to thank volunteers and tour the completed projects.

Moonrise Next Gen Encourages Community Leadership
Moonrise Next Gen launched in 2022 to inspire younger generations to become more involved in volunteer work, philanthropy, and community leadership across Southern Nevada.
The organization works closely with local nonprofits and community groups while encouraging young professionals and future leaders to give back through hands-on service projects and charitable initiatives.
Throughout Saturday morning’s Downtown Cares event, many volunteers said they appreciated the opportunity to directly support children and families in Downtown Las Vegas.
Several participants worked side-by-side with nonprofit staff while helping improve outdoor spaces across the Nevada Youth Network campus. Meanwhile, others said the event created a stronger connection to the local community and the families served by the organization.
Organizers also said events like Downtown Cares help introduce younger volunteers to long-term community involvement while creating meaningful relationships through service work.

Volunteer Efforts Continue Growing in Las Vegas
Volunteer projects continue expanding across Southern Nevada as nonprofit organizations partner with businesses and community groups.
Because many organizations operate with limited resources, volunteer support remains important for neighborhood improvement projects.
Meanwhile, Downtown Cares continues standing out as one of the city’s largest annual volunteer events focused on direct community impact.
By the end of the event, volunteers had completed several cleanup and beautification projects across the Nevada Youth Network campus.
