LAS VEGAS — Clark County residents interested in reducing energy costs now have a new opportunity to explore solar power through a community-based purchasing program.
Clark County’s Department of Environment & Sustainability (DES) recently partnered with Switch Together and nonprofit Solar United Neighbors to help homeowners and small businesses access competitive pricing on rooftop solar systems, battery storage and electric vehicle (EV) charging equipment.
The initiative supports the goals of All-In Clark County, the county’s climate and sustainability program designed to promote environmental responsibility and long-term resilience throughout Southern Nevada.
“We are excited to partner with Switch Together to provide county residents with an opportunity to access competitive pricing to install solar on their homes,” said Robert Burgy, climate and sustainability program manager with Clark County DES. “Switch Together advances the goals of All-In Clark County by helping residents make informed choices and take practical steps toward a more sustainable and resilient Southern Nevada.”

Group buying helps lower costs
The Switch Together program uses a group-buying model that allows participants to benefit from discounted pricing.
Instead of homeowners negotiating individually, the program brings together residents interested in solar energy. As a result, Switch Together can negotiate better pricing with qualified installers on behalf of the entire group.
Participants receive a personalized assessment and a no-obligation quote. They can then decide whether solar power fits their needs and budget.
In addition, homeowners may choose optional upgrades, including battery storage systems and EV charging stations. These additions can help households increase energy independence and support electric vehicle ownership.
Expert guidance available
Solar energy can seem complicated to many homeowners. However, the program provides educational resources and expert support throughout the process.
According to Solar United Neighbors, the goal is to help residents understand their options before making a decision.
“If ever you’ve thought about going solar, now’s your chance,” said Julia Hubbard, Nevada state director for Solar United Neighbors. “Switch Together helps you learn if going solar is right for you. You’ll have expert guidance through every step of the process.”
The program is open to homeowners and small businesses across Clark County.

Free educational event planned
Residents who want to learn more can attend a free Solar and Battery Storage 101 and Meet the Installer event on Thursday, July 23, at 5:30 p.m.
The event will take place at the West Las Vegas Library, located at 1861 N. Martin Luther King Jr. Blvd. Participants will have an opportunity to learn about solar technology, battery storage and available program benefits.
