LAS VEGAS — Multipure has released the fifth issue of its free “Dewey, The Clean Water Superhero” comic book series, introducing young readers to the growing concern surrounding microplastics in drinking water.
The latest issue, titled Plastic Pretender, follows Dewey as he faces a new villain connected to plastic pollution and contaminated water systems.
Company leaders say the comic aims to help children and families better understand environmental issues through storytelling and education.

New comic focuses on hidden water contamination
The newest installment centers on microplastics, which scientists continue finding in drinking water systems worldwide.
According to information shared by Multipure, studies have detected microplastics in tap water, bottled water, rivers and lakes across the globe.
As a result, awareness surrounding water quality concerns continues increasing among consumers.
Zachary Rice said the issue remains difficult for many families to recognize because the particles often remain invisible.
“Microplastics are a growing issue that most people never see, but they are becoming impossible to ignore,” Rice said.
He added that the comic transforms complex environmental topics into stories children can understand.

Story introduces new villain tied to plastic waste
In Plastic Pretender, Dewey encounters a flashy new hero named Everform. At first, citizens praise Everform for solving problems using plastic materials.
However, Dewey soon discovers those plastic fixes create larger environmental dangers.
Over time, the plastic begins breaking down and contaminating the city’s water supply. Eventually, the pollution creates Microplastico, a villain formed from plastic waste accumulation.
Instead of relying on strength alone, Dewey must address the source of the contamination and protect clean water.
Because of this storyline, the comic encourages readers to think about waste reduction and environmental responsibility.
Multipure continues educational outreach
Multipure created the Dewey comic series as part of its broader educational efforts tied to clean water and sustainability.
Each issue features Dewey, a water droplet superhero who teaches children about water safety, environmental awareness and healthy living.
The company offers all issues of the comic series as free digital downloads.
Readers can access the collection online through Multipure’s website.
Consumer concerns about water quality continue rising
Multipure officials say growing awareness about contaminants continues influencing consumer habits.
According to a recent company survey, nearly 65% of respondents said water quality concerns influenced their decision to purchase a water filtration system.
At the same time, researchers continue studying the long-term effects of microplastic exposure.
Although scientists still examine potential health risks, environmental experts increasingly warn about the spread of plastic contamination in ecosystems worldwide.
Because of these concerns, companies and environmental organizations continue focusing attention on water quality education.
Las Vegas company marks more than 50 years in industry
Multipure has operated in the water filtration industry for more than five decades.
Founded in 1970 and headquartered in Las Vegas, the company helped pioneer solid carbon block filter technology.
Today, Multipure manufactures water filtration systems for residential and commercial use around the world.
The company says it continues investing in education, product innovation and sustainability efforts connected to cleaner water access.
Comic available online for free
Families and educators can download digital copies of the Dewey comic series directly from the company’s website.
Officials say the free format helps make environmental education more accessible to children and parents alike.
